Dense Lightness by Ivan Forde (@workdaily), a show curated by Anna Harsanyi, is still on view at @baxterstccny for a couple of days through January 5. ⠀
⠀
Ivan Forde's image Morning Raid was selected by Libby Pratt (@libpratt), artist, educator, and director at Baxter St at CCNY, for our feature "photograph is 30". ⠀
⠀
She wrote about the image: "Although Ivan Forde’s blueprint, Morning Raid, takes the ancient epic poem Gilgamesh as a starting point, the work feels solidly contemporary. What initially seems like a battle between man and nature shifts upon closer examination. Numerous delicate, ephemeral characters attempt to wrangle and take control of a monumental tree in some graceful choreographed dance."⠀
⠀
Read the full text online - link in bio - and make sure to see the show before it closes.⠀

Okay, formally announcing my first solo show, “a simple song,” opens on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 through February 16, 2019 at @baxterstccny. Comprised of multimedia photographic and photo-sculptural works, a simple song draws influences from Billy Preston’s 1971 album, "I Wrote a Simple Song," in which the named track describes working on a straightforward song for an intended person and having the song embellished for radio success, leaving this special gesture now stripped of its intimacy and privacy. This exhibition of work considers the act of rendering private moments and discourse with reserve.
I’ll be in New York for the majority of January, including the opening, so I hope to spend time with you at the show.
This has been a year. My life’s goal is constantly to grow in understanding, to humanize myself and others, and to give and receive warmth and affirmation. That practice will continue.
