The Aperture Baxter St Next Step Award in partnership with the 7G Foundation supports US-based artists at critical junctures in their artistic development. Reconsidering equity across the country and in arts institutions, the award also supports the presentation of diverse opinions, as well as timely lens-based work that is relevant to today’s visual culture and society across a wide array of genres or approaches.

Every year Baxter St invites emerging curators to apply with an exhibition concept to be shown in the Baxter St’s gallery. Support for the guest-curated exhibition series provided by the Phillip and Edith Leonian Foundation.

Baxter St’s open call for mid-career, lens-based artists supports those who fall in between the categories of emerging and established artists. This exhibition series continues to further Baxter St’s goal to foster belonging in the cultural sector by offering mid-career lens-based artists an opportunity to exhibit a solo show

Baxter St’s Coffee Talks combine an exhibition walkthrough with the artist and/or curator, followed by casual conversation in our cafe.

Baxter St’s Photo Book Share is an opportunity for our community members at any stage in their career to bring their favorite photography monograph, zine, catalog, etc. and present it in an informal communal setting.

The Baxter St / YoungArts DEI Task Force is a group of nonprofit organizations working to strengthen and diversify their organizations as they increase equity, resilience, and impact across the cultural sector. The DEI Task Force is rooted in a rich process of equity-based transformation at Baxter St at the Camera Club of New York, led since 2011 by President Michi Jigarjian.
