Artist Biography:
Wayne Liu ”Shooting in China is for me a sort of reconstruction of my childhood memories. The first five years of my life, 1979-1984, I grew up in Taiwan with paternal grandparents, and what I vaguely remember of those sights and smell, contemporary China seems to fulfill for me as a substitute. Those years of my parent’s absence may have had an effect that hence I’m often searching for a sense of solitude amidst whatever I may be photographing.“
